How We Calculate Signal Performance
To maintain transparency, this document explains exactly how Trades Signal defines wins, losses, breakevens, and calculates historical performance statistics.
The performance statistics shown on Trades Signal are based on the objective outcomes of our published signals according to the rules below. Actual customer trading results may vary due to slippage, execution speed, broker differences, and personal trade management.
1. Signal Outcomes Defined
- Win (Take Profit Reached) A signal is recorded as a Win if the market price reaches at least Take Profit 1 (TP1) before hitting the Stop Loss (SL) or being manually closed by an update.
- Loss (Stop Loss Reached) A signal is recorded as a Loss if the market price reaches the Stop Loss (SL) before reaching any Take Profit target.
- Breakeven A signal is recorded as Breakeven if an official update moves the Stop Loss to the Entry Price, and the market subsequently hits that updated SL without reaching further targets.
- Cancelled / Invalidated A pending signal is cancelled if the market invalidates the setup before the Entry Price is reached. These are excluded from win rate calculations.
2. Multiple Targets & Partial Closures
For signals with multiple Take Profit targets (e.g., TP1, TP2, TP3):
- The signal is generally counted as a "Win" for the overall Win Rate calculation once TP1 is achieved.
- Total pip/point calculations assume standard partial profit-taking at each target, or as specified in official signal updates.
- If a signal hits TP1 and then reverses to hit the Stop Loss (which may have been moved to breakeven), the pip calculation will reflect the gain up to TP1 and the outcome of the remaining position.
3. Pip and Point Calculations
Total profit metrics (Pips/Points) are calculated based on the difference between the official Entry Price and the Exit Price.
Different asset classes use different measurement units:
- Forex: Measured in standard Pips (e.g., 4th decimal place, or 2nd decimal place for JPY pairs).
- Indices & Gold: Measured in Points.
We do not aggregate Pips and Points into a single number, as they represent different values.
4. Historical Revisions & Data Corrections
In rare cases where a signal outcome was recorded incorrectly due to a technical error or bad price feed, Trades Signal reserves the right to correct the historical data. Any significant corrections will be noted in the signal history timeline.
Important Reminder
Historical performance is calculated strictly according to these rules. It does not account for individual broker commissions, swap fees, or slippage. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
